We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for attendees of our upcoming events and we are actively monitoring the development and impact of the Coronavirus on the ability for all to travel and attend safely. We are planning for our event to occur on schedule, though we recognize that the situation is rapidly evolving and we are actively reviewing options to hold meetings virtually, should that become a necessity. If the situation changes, we will update this statement and inform attendees. Read the FAQ.
The International Conference on Microbiome Engineering (ICME 2020) will bring together leaders and experts from cutting edge fields of microbiome engineering to discuss progress and needs to develop research, technology, and innovation....
Microbiomes consist of diverse microoganisms and viruses that exist in every environment Earth ranging from the deep ocean to human skin. Microbiomes are highly complex since they contain hundreds to thousands of members and change as a function of time, space and environmental context. By compartmentalizing functions in different organisms and coordinating these activities, microbial communities can perform biotransformations more efficiently than single populations. Environmental perturbations can alter the composition and functions of microbiomes. Microbiome engineering aims to design targeted interventions to predictably alter microbiome properties or wire together interacting microbial strains with desired functions from the bottom-up for biotechnological, agricultural and therapeutic applications. This conference brings in experts in industry and academia worldwide to discuss the challenges in microbiome engineering and the future of the field.
